Introduction
One year ago, on the first day of spring, I was covering the wedding of the lovely couple Zoe & Kris. As a Photographer I couldn’t ask for a better set up or for better weather on the day. I had such a cute couple work with so I knew straight away I was bound to get some fantastic photos. I caught up with Zoe a couple of days after their 1 year anniversary and asked for her account of her wedding day.

A Brides Story By Zoe Burnett
At 5:30am on September 1st 2012 started getting ready for the biggest day of my life.
My sister is a hairdresser, so she did my hair along with my other bridesmaids hair. Her make up artist friend came & did all of our make up; we all looked amazing. At around 11am my Step dad arrived to drive us to the Wedding ceremony. We took some happy snaps amongst ourselves before I put on my amazing Mia Solano dress. We drove off to our ceremony at the Summer house in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
As my beautiful dad passed away when I was 16, I had my brother walking me down the aisle, he met me at the Botanic Garden gates. I was so nervous as my bridesmaids and bridesboy walked ahead of me. The song Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole played & I knew it was my turn!
I was so happy to see my Kris. Kris & his Groomsmen looked so striking in their Kenneth Blake suits from Peter Shearer. I just looked into his eyes and all I could see was pure happiness! He was so brave – he wasn’t scared, just elated. My legs were shaking like crazy! I don’t know if it was nerves or what, but I couldn’t stop my legs from shaking. I was sure everyone could see me rattling out of my shoes. As our fabulous celebrant Camille Abbott presented our wedding vows my legs still rattled, so I dug my heels into the ground. It stopped the shaking but ruined my shoes; Damn.
We said our own vows, which we wrote ourselves with Camille’s help. I could hear the girls and Ben sniffling behind me, and all the Groomsmen just looking at Kris & I; they all looked so proud! Then my new husband kissed me and it was over all so quickly! We signed our marriage certificate and everyone gave us kisses and congratulations, then we had our family photos which turned out really beautiful!
We had all our fabulous couple and group photos with the wedding party, which I loved and had so much fun. Our photographer James Devine was awesome. James told Kris and I how fabulous we were, even as I was telling him how awkward and ridiculous we were and totally not the PDA (public displays of affection) type couple. Yet we apparently pulled it off. He told Kris he had fantastic cheek bone structure and he should be a male model. I’m not sure if he said this in honesty, or so that Kris would feel extra handsome. But it worked and the photos are stunning and we had a blast!
After our photos in the gardens, we went to our afternoon reception which was held at the Gallery on Waymouth. We drank, ate, talked and caught up with family & friends. It was wonderful, relaxed and fun. James our photographer got some great candid shots of our friends & family. We had such an amazing day, everything was perfect down to the last detail.
