I want to provide you with a relaxed and effortless experience so you can focus on the shared love on your wedding day and be your authentic self. You want to revel in the moment, soak up every hug, smile, tear and connection. Let me present the first page as you open a new chapter in life. It’s one day, it’s your day, it’s your way.
A little bit about James Devine: Adelaide Wedding Photographer
My own journey to wedding photography started as a Building draftsperson in the early 2000s. However, I soon discovered a deep passion for photography and storytelling through the camera. After a few year searching and experimenting my craft I discovered my first break, documenting social events and the Adelaide nightlife scene. Then in 2010 I discovered my calling as a wedding photographer. Since then I have captured countless moments of joy through the lens.
Outside of photography I have a love for adventure, technology, and aviation. I have 3 amazing kids and I’m excellent home chef (I think) with noodles as specialty but Mac and cheese as my kids staple winner. Lego, sci-fi and camera geekery are my vices and I’m also a professed snob of a good coffee!
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is your photography style?
Answer: I would say modern and timeless without getting stuck in a trend. I want your images to be as fresh as the day you said I-do!
Question: Can I see a fully complete gallery?
Answer: Absolutely! When we meet I want you to see all my work before making the big decision.
Question: Can we keep the RAW files?
Answer: As a diner would you want to have the off cuts, the shaved carrot skins, the discarded broths and oil in a takeaway container?…probably not.
To help explain what a RAW file is. It’s simply a flat raw data image that contains all the necessary information for editing and is definitely not the final cooked and presented dish. Capturing the image is the first part. The magic happens behind the scenes when we tweak and adjust the cropping, brightness and colour to give it that pop.
Question: Can you help us with creating a timeline?
Answer: Yes! As someone with “a bit” of wedding experience I do provide guidance to clients on what their day may look like from a photographers perspective. I present realistic timelines that take into account logistics and other factors on the day, such as talking with family and friends and taking breaks.
How do you ensure our photos are safe from being lost or damaged?
Answer: As with any responsible professional I like to keep back-ups. I like to keep in progress client weddings on back up drives. After I finish a wedding I archive my work for up to 5 years after your wedding day.
Engagement Sessions
A wedding day is often a couple’s first time working closely with a professional photographer. Typically, most interactions with professional photographers have likely been with school portraits or occasional family shoots, and most of our time in front of a camera has been with our smartphones.
To help alleviate nerves in front of the camera, an engagement session is a great way to go. Engagement sessions can help you become comfortable being in front of the lens. And its a great learning opportunity to find out what poses and styles work best for you.
Your photographer can also guide you on how to relax and feel more at ease in front of the camera. Additionally, feeling confident and looking your best on your wedding day can also positively impact how you approach being photographed. For most couples, an hour of photography is enough to feel at ease. It’s a great opportunity to share beautiful images with friends and family before the big day.
