DEVINE PHOTOGRAPHY PRESS RELEASE January 2024

DEVINE PHOTOGRAPHY
PRESS RELEASE
January 2024

Well I guess that’s a wrap on 2023!…The last sunset of the year that was, And what a year! 2023 has been a year of internal growth and change for myself, and change and growth within business and family.

In June of last year my family welcomed the arrival of Alex, just to make life a little more chaotic for myself and Hannah. Evelyn and John have relished the role of becoming the older siblings to their baby brother.

In 2023 I rediscovered my love of film photography diving back into the format as a place for my own personal creativity. There is a certain magic to be had from shooting on film, It’s allowed me to slow down and consider my shots more carefully which has had a positive impact on my digital workflow at Devine Photography.

As much as I’ve been resisting it, 2023 has brought me into video sphere….finally. While tentative, I’ve been dipping my toes and testing the waters with editing using DaVinci Resolve 17 and doing behind the scenes work, testing and filming behind and in front of the camera. While stills photography has been a core creative strength of mine over the years, there is no denying that video content will have a place within Devine Photography in 2024 and beyond.

Commercial work is back on the agenda post Covid-19. Late last year I had the great opportunity to do some white label work for Lawrence at Cirroco Media which has helped me get back into the groove within the commercial work space.

Just as we were emerging out of the Covid-19. 2023 has also brought challenges to Devine Photography. Unfortunately just as the wedding industry was recovering, the current cost of living crisis has hit the wedding industry particularly hard. Clients within the 25-35 year old age demographic have been particularly affected hard by the cost of living crisis and this has shown with clients looking for more budget friendly options for their wedding photography coverage. Recognising this shift in the market I introduced new wedding photography packages for couples. The budget friendly packages introduced were the “The Kiss” and “The Mini” packages. While cost of living pressures have impacted the business bottom line I’m committed to a price freeze for all future clients until the end of June 2024.

As always I’m looking to the future, I look forward to what 2024 has to offer from new creative projects and opportunities. I wish everyone including my new and existing clients a happy and prosperous 2024, and the year ahead is everything you want it to be and more.

SPECIAL THANKS

I’d like to say a big thanks to all my clients @followers former, new and returning over the years who have followed my work. I always value seeing the smiles and capturing those once in a lifetime moments with you all.

Finally a special thanks to the following “creatives” that helped make 2023 the year it was. You’ve all contributed in some way to making my working life just that little bit more bearable as a solo work from home creative.

Jackie Tran, For the late evening catchups over Korean Fried Chicken and Korean BBQ.

Off Grid Photography Bronte for the super tasty Ramen Sessions and general photo geekery.

Neil Soriano Being an outstanding second shooter.

Peter Kelly from PMK for keeping the website up and running after all these years.

A super special thank you to my wife Hannah. Thank you for being you and being an amazing wife and incredible mother to our 3 beautiful children, Evelyn, John & Alex. I’m not sure how we got here but coming up to our 10 year married year together I’m glad it’s been with you. And thank you to my three kids. You might be too young to read this, but thank you for continually teaching me lessons on how to be a parent. Life truly is a continuous learning experience.
